Shift Counseling is interested in helping you achieve your greatest potential.  It is important to use effective strategies to promote this process of change.  That is why Shift Counseling uses proven therapeutic techniques to help solidify the goals in your life. 

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a strategy that encourages clients to evaluate their thinking in order to change the way they behave and feel in any given situation.  This is the foundation for the counseling provided to clients at Shift Counseling.  

Another therapeutic tools used at Shift Counseling Services is Motivational Interviewing (MI).  MI has been researched and shown to increase motivation and develop empowerment for clients.  This therapeutic strategy will utilize the resources you already have to develop your plan of action for change. 

People who are struggling with ongoing trauma, also defined as life events that produce on ongoing negative effect in ones life, will benefit from Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).  This therapeutic treatment is used to reduce and eliminate the unhealthy reaction that we have to traumatic situations in our life.

Hi, my name is William Wimsatt Jr.  I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a Certified Addictions Counselor level III (CAC III).  I have more than ten years of experience as a counselor in outpatient and inpatient treatment environments.  I will work with you to find greater happiness and a better balance in your life.  We will be able to evaluate your beliefs, strengthen your relationships, increase your confidence, cope with challenges, and so much more.
